The Bigger Pockets Money podcast explores how to “earn more, keep more, spend smarter, and grow wealth.” We stumbled on an older episode about online shopping and it was a wakeup call.  As described in the show notes:  

Anthony Ongaro had a habit. Every time he had a bad day, every time life wasn’t amazing, he opened up his online shopping site, and one-click purchased something. Anything. It didn’t matter. He didn’t need it, it didn’t matter what it was, but the act of purchasing made him feel better. 

After looking at their order reports, Anthony and his wife discovered they had spent $12,000 on Amazon Prime over a four year period. They weren’t buying big things. About 90% of the purchases were under $40. Anthony calls his purchasing impulse the Twitch.
